Copyright and image takedown
Last updated: September 2026
Effective date: September 2026
Photographs on a TwoDwell member profile are uploaded by the member, who tells us for every listing where the rights to that photograph come from — they took it, their brokerage owns it, or their photographer licensed it to them for marketing that listing. We do not copy photographs from listing portals, brokerage websites or an MLS.
If you believe a photograph on this site is yours and is being used without permission, tell us and we will act on it. You do not need a lawyer to send a notice, and you do not need to have registered the photograph first.
How to report an image
Email copyright@twodwell.com with the subject line “Copyright notice”. Every “Report this image” link on a member profile carries the listing’s identifier in its web address — please paste that whole address into your email, because it is the fastest way for us to find the exact image you mean.
What we need from you
So that we can act quickly and correctly, a notice should include:
- Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address.
- Enough detail to identify the photograph you say is yours — the original file, a link to where you published it, or a clear description.
- The web address of the page on this site where you saw it, and the listing identifier from the “Report this image” link.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by you, your agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
What we do about it
We act on valid notices expeditiously. In practice that means we take the image down from public view first and ask questions afterwards — a member’s listing card renders perfectly well without a photograph, and an image nobody can see cannot keep harming anyone. We tell the member whose profile it was on what we removed and why.
If you are that member and you believe the image was removed by mistake, you may send us a counter-notice with your contact details, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district. We will pass it on, and unless the person who sent the original notice files a court action we may restore the image.
We also end the membership of anyone who repeatedly uploads photographs they do not have the right to use. That is not a formality — it is the condition on which everything above rests.
Listings that are no longer for sale
A photographer’s licence to a listing agent usually runs only while the property is actively for sale. So when a listing leaves the market, its photographs stop being shown on this site automatically, overnight, whether or not anyone asks. If the property is listed again, the photographs return with it.
